Yes, we haven’t put anything on here since the hurricane (and even that was scant). You’d have thought the previously hurricane had wiped us out given how quiet this site has been (Ike was over a year ago…). But if it’s any consolation, I just spent 3 or 4 hour of my life updating and troubleshooting the back-end software that runs this site JUST to share this video with everyone. This is Maria’s 1st piano recital. She performed on Saturday, Dec. 12 and played “Oh Christmas Tree.” She just started piano lessons at the end of August, and worked her little butt off to learn this song so she could participate in the winter recital. We’re as proud as can be of her and looking forward to more recitals. Merry Christmas. Enjoy.
So it was pointed out that:
- We hardly ever get around to doing anything with this site
- A good deal of our Friends and Family are not season hurricane veterans from the Coast and aren’t sure what to expect and if they should be concerned and what not.
So, that being said, I just wanted to let everyone know what’s going on.
As of right now the hurricane is expected to make landfall later this evening, but given the size of it, we’ll likely start feeling it effects in the next few hours. We have decided that our safest bet is to just shelter in place, as we are only in a Voluntary Evacuation zone and are in one of the higher spots in town. We’ve boarded our windows and have food stocks for a few days, in case we lose power for any period of time (Which is likely given these things tend to knock down power lines).
Right now, it’s actually quite pleasant for a Houston August. Breezy and slightly cooler than usual, albeit cloudy (Go figure…) Anyhow, we’ve both got our phones and we’ll be available until the towers go down (if they do). We’re expecting heavy rain and some flooding, but nothing devastating, mainly just flooded streets (Remember, New Orleans is below sea level; We’re above and we have no levees to break). As for wind. we’ll you do what you can, and you clean up the junk afterward. We’ll keep in touch with everyone, and if we can post here, we will. In the meantime, don’t pay attention to the news. It’s 1000X more boring than they make it out to be. Talk to everyone soon. We love you all.
So i finished my last sm calling position with Aida. It was a hell of a way to leave but now I can honestly say I am glad I a going. I will be starting a new job with HGO and starting a whole new life.
I am excited.
Well, chances are if you are reading this, then you have realized this site is under COMPLETE renovation. I’m re-working everything to make this a much more usable site for Lydia and I. So please, pardon the dust. but in the meantime ,if you are interested there are about 500 new pictures in the Image Gallery.
